This presentation summarizes many of my views towards how we could implement restorative justice practices, coupled with behavioral skills groups (ie. cognitive behavioral therapy) in schools. The Circle of Courage (COC) is the ideal framework to implement these practices within my idealized school, because it embeds Indigenous worldviews and builds students up from a strength based practice. In this model we don’t wait for students to need support with behaviour, we provide routes for all students to build skills within the system. Anxiety and depression among youth is increasing and developing some cognitive behavioral skills can help these students in the future, by helping them develop a positive inner voice.
