First Peoples Principles of Learning (FFPoL) helps me as an educator center myself with Indigenous philosophies at the heart of my lessons. I like to start my lesson plans with them, so I can be sure that my lessons are as Indigenously inspired as possible. I also include the Circle of Courage teachings in my lesson plans, as I see the philosophy relating very strongly to elementary education; I find a lot of value in the interpersonal side of the Circle of Courage teachings, which is the heart of what we do as educators. I think it is important that we use the FFPoL to keep Indigenous culture front and center in our colonized nation, and in our classroom spaces.
